Curvey!   This is one fun cool tool for anyone who sews clothing.

It all started with Anne St. Clair, renowned as the “bra lady,” from Needle Nook Fabrics in Wichita, Kansas.  Anne was in Gainesville, Florida, to do a bra workshop with the American Sewing Guild just as Crafty Bev introduced the FussyCut 3in1 Tool.  That item didn’t do much for her in the realm of bra-making, but Anne did have a project in mind. 

The French curve ruler Anne had been using for a very long time was on its last legs, and she had not been able to find a suitable replacement.  This was a vital tool in her arsenal.  Could Crafty Bev make one for her?  Rick took on the project, and the result was . . . Curvey!

Curvey! gives garment sewers the business end of the indispensable French curve fashion ruler in a fraction of the space and in bright sturdy see-through plexiglass.  It’s an essential tool for achieving professional results with alterations to necklines, armcyes, crotches, hiplines and more.  Curvey! is the answer to the age-old quandary of how to redraw those lines after you’ve made changes to the original line.

Curvey! has actually been referred to as a "sensual" tool.  Curvey! has a nautilus curve that replicates natural body curves on one side, with a straight edge on the other.  It has a great feel and look, and there's just something satisfying about holding and working with the durn thing. I do not understand or evaluate, I simply observe and relay.

How it works is part science, part art, and can seem part magic.  You have two points on your pattern that  have to be reconnected in a way that will work for the design.  These are the points where your alterations are no longer in play.  Set your Curvey! down with the curved edge touching the two points.  Move it, slide it, let it glide, keeping the curved edge on those two points until . . . bingo! . . . you spot that the curve has been appropriately restored.  Redraw your curve on a tissue paper extension and you’re back in business.  You can create whole new necklines, too, just this way, taking them down or raising them up.Like all Crafty Bev products, Curvey! is made in the United States from superior quality florescent cell cast plexiglass for maximum strength, versatility, longevity, and visibility.  You’ll always be able to spot your Curvey! in that target-rich creative environment known as your sewing room.
